Yeah, Art! Partners with Best Buy To Teach Kids Digital Illustration
This spring, Yeah, Art! had the incredible opportunity to partner with the Best Buy Foundation and Microsoft on a project that gave teens across the country the chance to dream big and design for impact.
As part of the Type Cover for a Cause program, Yeah, Art! Teaching Artists Ruby Lambie and J’Aaron Merchant led digital art workshops at Best Buy Teen Tech Centers, with support from our Microsoft partners Augustus Willman and Darrell Booker. Together, we introduced teens in underserved communities to vector design, Adobe Illustrator, and the creative process behind bringing bold ideas to life.
The workshops combined beginner-friendly techniques with professional insights, and as always, J’Aaron sprinkled in wisdom that left both students and mentors inspired. More than just skills, these sessions provided teens with access to creative tools, mentorship, and a safe space to express their artistic voices.
One of those voices was Bella Sanchez’s. Her design was selected to appear on a limited-edition Surface Pro Type Cover — available exclusively through Best Buy Drops starting August 22.
Every purchase of Bella’s design helps fund the Best Buy Foundation, ensuring more young people can explore, create, and lead with technology at their fingertips.
