There’s no such thing as a kid who’s not creative.

Every Yeah, Art! program is a new way to fall in love with art. Read more about our offerings by clicking on any of the titles below.

  • Beats are the new notebooks. In this class, students learn to tell their story through sound using digital tools like Soundtrap and Ableton. They’ll create original tracks from scratch, exploring sampling, sequencing, and sound design. Along the way, they gain real-world skills in mixing and audio editing — opening doors to careers in music, production, and sound design.

  • This is where lyrics meet meaning. Students study the craft behind pop, hip-hop, and protest music — then write their own songs from the ground up. Through guided prompts, group feedback, and solo writing time, students learn to tell powerful stories through song and express what matters most to them.

  • Vocal workshops aren’t just for singers. Anyone with a voice can learn how to control it — make it bigger, softer, more expressive and signature. In the Yeah, Art! vocal workshop, students learn how to find and master their own unique voices by mixing classical techniques with modern examples of artists they look up to.

  • This class blends creative writing and animation to bring student stories to life. First, they develop original characters, conflicts, and resolutions. Then they learn animation fundamentals — movement, transitions, narration, and sequencing. By the end, their stories leap off the page in 3D-style animated films they’ve written and directed themselves.

  • Poetry doesn’t sound or look like it used to. Today’s poets are Kendrick Lamar, Jhené Aiko, and Chance the Rapper — and our students tap into that same creative power. Through freestyle drills, word games, and improv, students write from the heart and bring their pieces to life with studio-style recordings and vocal performance skills they can use anywhere.

  • Is it possible to turn yourself into art? Brands and movements do it all the time — distilling complex ideas and stories into a single logo or tagline. In the Identity workshop, kids get to make their own personal logo and tagline based on what makes them unique, while learning the fundamentals of branding and design.

  • Technology has changed the way we shoot and edit videos, but the fundamentals haven’t changed. In the Music video workshop, students learn the basics of visual storytelling, composition, framing and pacing as they work together to shoot and edit a video for one of the songs they’ve created.

We have artists from the community teach in our community. Our teachers center and uplift our students through their own first-hand understanding of our students’ challenges — and more importantly, their potential.
