Oakland Kids Are Taking Over the Salesforce Tower with Their Digital Art
Yeah, Art!’s newest class is taking student artwork to new heights — literally.
“Sky’s The Limit” is our new digital illustration program designed to introduce Oakland students to the creative tools shaping the future. Over the past several weeks, students have been learning the fundamentals of digital art, creating original planets, galaxies, spaceships, and animated visual elements using professional creative technology.
Their final project? A large-scale collaborative animation that will be displayed on top of the Salesforce Tower — making our students the youngest artists ever featured on the building.
For many of our students, this is their first experience using digital illustration software or seeing art connected to real-world creative careers. At Yeah, Art!, that’s exactly the point. We believe students deserve early access to the same creative tools and opportunities used by professionals in industries like animation, music production, design, and media arts. By combining art and technology in culturally relevant ways, we’re helping students imagine bigger futures for themselves — and giving them the skills to begin building them now.
This project would not be possible without our incredible partners, including KTVU, Jim Campbell Studio, and our brilliant co-teacher and curriculum creator Ruby Lambie.
“Sky’s The Limit” is just one example of how Yeah, Art! continues to push the boundaries of arts education in Oakland classrooms — connecting students to cutting-edge creative technology, professional artists, and opportunities they may never have imagined possible.
